If I were to ask you, “what do you think it would mean for you to feel whole?”
What would your response be?
We’ve been so conditioned to look outside of ourselves for validation and to compete against one another. Think back to grade school spelling bees. I remember getting so nervous, I’d be sweaty, I’d have memorized all the words the night before, I had already been studying them for days and I had this panic in my stomach when we all lined up down the side of the classroom and waited our turn to walk up and receive a word from the teacher. Every step along that line my mind was in stress, I was going over all the words in my head….
That was grade two. The words were “bumble bee, peculiar and fascinated.”
Can you see where the perfectionist is born?
We are so unconsciously conditioned in our lives. Be the best speller, the best athlete, the best student, get the best grade or what?
Or we feel like we failed, like something is wrong with us. And if something is wrong with us, then we don’t feel whole and we for the rest of our lives we go in search of this outside approval – of love, accreditation, acceptance & belonging…
This becomes part of our identity.
Let’s dive in and investigate it all, so we can start to heal.
